Biggest Turbine Ever - From Norway

Eco Geek reports on the world's largest turbine, produced by Norwegian company Sway.

The turbine is a monster. It has a 162m high tower and a rotor diameter of 145m, and will produced a maximum 10MW. It is roughly double the height and rotor diameter of 2MW turbines, but benefits greatly from the extra height. It is also more efficient due to fewer and lighter moving parts.

The prototype is set to be installed in 2011, at a total cost of over $67m, and could power 2000 homes.
