It took five years to plan, consult and negotiate, but the £1 billion Sheringham offshore wind farm is under construction. First job is the 22km cable corridor to transport power from the farm to Salle, where a new substation will be built. The cable digging is being done by Carillion PLC and the project manager is Danny Jones.
88 Siemens turbines are scheduled to be erected, and each one has a maximum power output of 3.6MW. The picture here, taken from the Statkraft/StatoilHydro newsletter (July 2009) shows how the turbines might look when installed.
