The RSPB regards the threat of species extinction due to climate change as much more important than the potential damage to wildlife habitats. Nature conservation need not be harmed, even if the planning system was able to fast-track onshore wind schemes. An important part of this would be identifying areas where turbine installations should be given priority, and without serious risk of damage to wildlife.
