MoD drops opposition to Norfolk offshore wind farms

New Energy Focus reports that the DECC (Department for Energy and Climate Change) will invest £4.75 million in wind development. This basically pays for a new, turbine-proof radar at Trimingham. This now means that the Ministry of Defence (MoD) has withdrawn its objection to five offshore wind farms which it feared would affect its radar in Norfolk, according to a BBC report.

This means that offshore wind farms off the Sheringham and Cromer coasts can proceed apace, but should also mean that the Unity Wind project at North Walsham can go ahead with two turbines.
