Unitywind North Walsham has taken a huge step forwards today with the erection of its weather mast. This mast is 50 metres tall and you can see it heading out of North Walsham on the Cromer Road, behind Focus and the industrial units.
Solarwheel, a wind measurement specialist company from Wales, performed the installation in a matter of hours and successfully confirmed the correct operation of the equipment.
Alicia Hull and Simon Brocklehurst witnessed the entire operation, with Peter Crouch, Hetty Selwyn and John Swindells (plus John's eldest son, Daniel) were there later for the EDP photo-shoot.
The met mast (short for meteorological mast) will collect weather measurements for a year, which will give Unitywind enough information to confirm that the site is suitable for a full-size wind turbine.
